Cycle Training on Sundays

Printable route maps for all rides can be found in the bike routes section and also on the Serpentine MapMyRide page.

Rides from Richmond Park

We meet on Sundays at 9.00am at the cafe in the Roehampton Gate car park, Richmond Park. Please avoid blocking the road and pathways for other park users.

Rides head out to the Surrey Hills via Kingston and Esher or west to Windsor and the standard rides are:

Three Hills  - 90km long with cake stop at Box hill

Five Hills - 110km with one cake stop at Peaslake and a toilet stop at Box hill. There are variations on this route including the commonly ridden Six Hills.

Windsor– 100km+. After arrival in Windsor, we’ll ride a varying number of laps of the Windsor triathlon bike course. Whether there is a cake stop depends on the group and its objectives. This route has less hills making it attractive to less strong riders but it is also an ideal route for Ironman training as it enables you to maintain an intensity and rack up more miles than the Surrey hills routes.

Introductory group– currently monthly. This coached session stays within Richmond Park with a focus on learning bike skills such as group riding, bike handling, hill climbing etc. This group is pitched at novice riders but is suitable for anyone who needs to learn or improve bike skills. Check with Serpentine's cycling co-ordinator when the next intro ride rolls or look out for notices in the egroup or newsletter.

Rides from North & East London

We occasionally meet in other locations in north and east London for medium paced group rides of around 80k on undulating roads in Hertfordshire and Essex. You need to be confident riding in a group, with a steady pace of around 20-25km per hour. Café stop at half way.
